Blogger Jillian Johnson shares three super-duper fun, creative and memorable ways to make Valentine’s Day more special this year! I adore JJ’s ideas, but I have to say I disagree with the “forget the flowers” part of the equation. I say do it all. (Yes, I am prone to excess.) Ahem… But men deserve to receive flowers just as much as we do, don’t they? Extra points for the unexpected factor. I know that the right flowers make me SWOON. -aa

[dropcap]H[/dropcap]ave you ever had a teddy bear delivered at your office on Valentine’s Day? No? Well, you’re not the only one!

As we get closer to Valentine’s Day, offices across the country will be awash with UPS packages, bright pink envelopes and, of course, surprise flower deliveries. But, does any of it really stand out? What seems like a sweeping romantic gesture on the big screen is often hackneyed and overdone in real life.

Roses and carnations fade in a week, and most people are still fighting to drop the extra pounds they picked up at Christmas by the time Valentine chocolates are dropped at their door. So how do you do something fun for your sweetie that no one’s ever done before?

Below are three unique and out-of-the-box ways to make your sweetheart smile – and leave coworkers talking for weeks.

Love may be blind, but it doesn’t have to be boring.

1. How about: A singing telegram.

No, no, – don’t walk away – you don’t have to deliver it yourself! (But, bonus points if you do.) Most of us have seen singing telegrams on TV, but did you know they are a bona fide service you can send to your amour for V-Day? Singing telegrams can be romantic, funny, outrageous – or preferably, a combination of all three!

When you order a singing telegram, a professional actor is dispatched to sing it in person. Yes, there can be costumes. Yes, they can also bring a gift! And if you’re feeling bold, a kiss-o-gram is also a possibility (but you better hope the delivery person isn’t too cute). If you’re the DIY type, you can also create your own singing telegram video and post it on YouTube for your lover to see.

2. Why not DIY? Make your own gift basket.

Valentine’s gift baskets usually have the same old stuff: chocolate, chocolate, roses and more chocolate. Why not create your own? The advantage of building your own gift basket is you can personalize the things you include, such as pictures from your first date, or your sweetie’s favorite perfume. You can even make it racy with lingerie!

3. Send in the teddies! Bears, that is…

Maybe a singing telegram is too over the top for you or your intended but you still want to send something memorable . Instead of flowers, how about a teddy bear delivery? Just like any good Valentine’s Day delivery, these can be timed to surprise your beloved at work or at home – and they leave an impression. Giant teddy bears gain squeals of laughter and applause from coworkers as they’re borne into the office. Unlike flowers, they don’t wilt, and unlike candy, they’re zero calories. And their big, furry smiles will remind your loved one of you every day.

Keep these three creative and fun Valentine’s Day gift ideas in mind and make it a day your sweetie won’t soon forget!
