Love & Relationship Longevity Advice from My Mother: How to Stay Together

Relationship longevity. Huh? Is there such a thing as more people seem to get divorced than married?

My mother and father have been married for 35+ years, the good, the bad, and the ugly. So, I asked Mama Abrams to give us her love tips & advice for being in a long term relationship.
Here’s what my Mom had to share…
MAMA ABRAMS’ TIPS FOR RELATIONSHIP LONGEVITY

  1. Respect each other and each other’s space.
  2. Worship together; the family that prays together, stays together.
  3. Compromise.
  4. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
  5. Think first before acting or speaking.
  6. Be sensitive to his/her feelings.
  7. Learn to walk away from arguments. You don’t have to always win. It’s not a war.
  8. Don’t go to bed angry.
  9. Don’t stretch out your anger; try to discuss the problem. Things may not be as bad as you think.
  10. Be careful – Don’t discuss all of your problems with your best friend. They may want to take your place.
plus…
11. If he/she doesn’t like it, don’t do it.
12. Don’t keep the hurt inside. Nobody is a mind reader.
13. Last, but not least————–FORGIVE!!!!!!! Learn to forgive each other.
(Exclamation points, Mom’s!)
