About Honey Goddess
Generations ago, a circle of women in the free Black town of Amaniville, NY, called upon the old gods to save their people. That prayer became a promise, waiting for the daughters who would fulfill it.
Lola Callendar's life is a hot mess on a good day. Forty-three dollars to her name, a failing natural-hair salon, and not enough rose quartz to fix the selfish Leo boyfriend she fears is her last chance. This Caribbean-American beauty-guru is starting to believe she's too late—for love, for success, for her own happy ending… until a rare cosmic event when she and her found-family of 3 ride-or-die besties pull forbidden African goddess oracle cards, and everything changes.
Lola pulls one card: Oshun. Yoruba Orisha. Force of Nature. Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Abundance. That card changes everything. Now bees follow her, honey calls to her, and men stare.
Enter Sebastian 'Baz' D'Ablemont, an infuriatingly fine Nawlins Creole alphahole billionaire. It's hate at first sight, even though Baz gets her, sees her magic, and may have some secrets of his own. Enemies to lovers. Fated-mates heat.
But as the Dominion of the Light—generational destiny thieves—close in, Lola's Goddess Circle and conjure-woman mentor prepare for spiritual warfare.
To save her heart and the world for those who look like her, she'll have to remember who she truly is.
Because when a goddess is reborn, empires tremble.

About the Author
“Somewhere between sneaking my mom’s Harlequin novels, pushing my high school to add Toni Morrison and Octavia Butler to the curriculum, sitting at my dad’s altar by day, and listening to his stories of jumbies and gods by night, the writer in me was born.”
ABIOLA ABRAMS is a New York-born award-winning author, obsessed with writing love-soaked, magic-kissed stories about ancestral power, desire, identity, and women remembering who they were born to be.
Abiola has been a writer since childhood, when she turned her toy stove on its side and declared it her first desk.
An intuitive alchemist and oracle card creatrix, she was born to Guyanese parents with Bajan and African heritage. Raised by a minister of spiritual practices rooted in African spirituality, Abiola learned early to honor the seen and unseen worlds and to trust intuition as sacred guidance.
Abiola has led Goddess Circles everywhere from her Harlem living room to her international retreats, Bali to Belize.
Her first novel, DARE, was published by Simon & Schuster. She is also the author of the bestselling spiritual and personal development books AFRICAN GODDESS INITIATION, FROM IMAGINATION TO REALITY, and THE DIVINE FREQUENCY. Abiola is the creatrix of AFRICAN GODDESS RISING ORACLE, FACES OF OSHUN ORACLE, and SECRETS OF THE ANCESTORS ORACLE, published by Hay House/Penguin Random House.
Abiola studied sociology and creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College and holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
Her most demanding audience is a tiara-wearing toddler who has loud opinions about bedtime stories and snacks.

THE GODDESS CIRCLES BEHIND THE STORY

Somewhere between sneaking my mom’s Harlequin novels and my dad teaching me how our African ancestors hid their gods in our hearts, Honey Goddess was born.
“When the world begins to fray, circles of women awaken. Not always five. Not always by name. But always called.”
From Honey Goddess
Long before Lola’s book club became a Goddess Circle, I was called to gather women around the world for sacred ritual, ancestral healing, laughter, truth, and sisterhood. Honey Goddess carries some of this real-life circle magic onto the page.

"Abiola Abrams is a spiritual girl’s girl, a living oracle of all that is deeply healing, endlessly creative, and life-giving about the Goddess. Through her books, card decks, workshops, retreats, and teachings, she reminds us that spiritual depth does not require us to live forever in the wound." -Hannah Eko, author of Honey Is the Knife and host of Women, Writing, Weed, and Wine

Romance, mystery, and prophecy braided into one, you will devour this book…and it will feed you.

Praise & Early Love

Debbie Rigaud
"Abrams deftly warps time and perception with a turn of phrase, conjuring a story so visceral, what’s material becomes immaterial and what’s ethereal congeals. A story of the bonds of love and friendship which carries a strong undertow where voices from the past and present push against and yearn for each other, until this undertow swells up and envelops, reconnecting us to the essence of who and why we are. A gripping, transportive read, cover to cover."
- Debbie Rigaud, NYT Bestselling Author of License to Thrill and A Girl's Guide to Love and Magic

Dr. Michelle Yaa Asantewa
"Honey Goddess is a sacred invocation of re-membering. It is the loving preparation for a spiritual bath that cleanses and replenishes the soul from the mire of forgetfulness. It opens portals for the blessed journey of enlightenment through overcoming by defeating the daring nemesis of unconsciousness. It is the exquisite magic of collective healing.
More than the need for communal expressions of love, it is the unbroken threads of antiquity powered by it. The Osun cards pulled at the start of each chapter are incantations for divine order, transmutation and the rediscovery of being “‘one voice in my ancestors’ song.” The stunning African goddess next door finally receives her crown.
She is reunited with her divine mate in a majestic dance of the elements. Theirs is a loving dance of transcendence, embodied by African powers and the marvelous vitality of ancestors.
Abiola Abrams weaves a wonderful page-turner that invites total immersion – if not submission to a long-awaited calling to return home."
-Dr. Michelle Yaa Asantewa, editor of In Search of Mami Wata and co-organizer of the Annual Osun River Ritual Festival

Heather Eng
"With Honey Goddess, Abiola Abrams weaves a rich, captivating tale of love, legacy, and finding your true powers.
Lola's journey of transformation is pure magic."
-Heather Eng, author of Double Happiness

Anita Kopacz
“Abiola Abrams has found a powerful way to translate African spirituality and magic for mainstream Black culture.
So many of us were raised to fear and demonize the ancestral practices that are our birthright.
Abiola gathers what was hidden, forbidden, and forgotten, places it all into her sacred cauldron with a pinch of romance, and serves it up hot—in dazzling novel form.
Honey Goddess is reclamation, remembrance, and magic woven into every page.”
-Anita Kopacz, bestselling author of Shallow Waters and The Wind on Her Tongue

Lorriane Anderson
"Honey Goddess is a soulful, triumphant debut that had be rooting for the heroine right from the start.
This book is equal parts fantasy, romance and a guide on how to love yourself fiercely.
Watching Lola embrace her every curve and flaw all while tossing humility to the wind and stepping fully into her power, heritage and her gifts is nothing short of electrifying.
Then you throw in a billionaire god who worships her like the queen she is, and you get a book that’s sexy, delicious and unforgettable.
What’s not to love?"
- Lorriane Anderson, co-author of the Seasons of the Witch oracle series

Dr. Sarah L. Webb,
"Honey Goddess is the novel I've been waiting for.
It's an entertaining page turner that synthesizes modern day realism, Black woman swagger, historical spirituality and mysticism with relatability and humor.
While the novel might be classified as fantasy, it feels so real!"
- Dr. Sarah L. Webb, author of Colorism: The Politics of Skin Tone and How We Get Free

Dr. Giavanni Washington
"Honey Goddess is a divination come to life. Guided by the Goddesses, Queens, and Medicine Women of the diaspora, Goddess Abiola casts a love story that refuses to stay in one lifetime: lineages moving through time, finding each other again and again, laying bare the healing soul of a people.
This is a book about erasure. About everything that has been taken from us, and everything we take back.
Honey Goddess reveals the ancestral wisdoms that break the cycle: the power of women in Circle.
The relationship with land. The love between mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, friends who become kin.
Romance, mystery, and prophecy braided into one, you will devour this book…and it will feed you.
Amen.
To The Veil."
-Dr. Giavanni Washington, creator of the Black Goddess Within Oracle Deck

Ehime Ora
“Through Honey Goddess, Abiola Abrams proves she cannot be boxed into one genre.
Abrams is a healer and a storyteller—through the prose of Honey Goddess she
performs the work of giving medicine through a story that mirrors our own experiences.
Honey Goddess births possibilities that can deeply resonate for black women healing
through fiction.
An effortless read, from front to back.”
- Ehime Ora, artist, priestess of the Ifá and Orisa tradition, and bestselling author of Ancestors Said and Spirits Come
from Water

Adama Sesay
"Entertaining, empowering, and magical, I could not put Honey Goddess down! I loved the juxtaposition between modern-day life as a woman in NYC, ancestral veneration, intuitive powers, and the ancient power of Oshun. This is a must-have for every goddess lover, mystic, and orisha enthusiast's library."
- Adama Sesay, Author of Black Moon Lilith Rising
