Yes to living the laptop lifestyle, your own special way, with no apology.

Thank you to Griots Republic, a wonderful black travel and freedom lifestyle platform, for the awesome article on being a “Traveling Spiritpreneur!”

You can read Selome’s thought-provoking, comprehensive and soul-searching interview on Griots Republic now here.

It turns out that my superb interviewer, Selome B., was also of Guyanese descent; so I knew I was in great hands!

Self-Love Expert -- African American Travel Blog Interview, Laptop Lifestyle

Hey Goddess — laptop lifestyle edition!

Recently, I was asked to describe my home decor style as I design my new apartment.

I said that my home decor style was as if “Josephine Baker and Zora Neale Hurston are roommates” or Global Renaissance Glam.

Josephine Baker, for the uninitiated, was was an African American burlesque performer, expat who was revered in France, adopted a rainbow tribe, served as an ambassador and civil rights activist — and even a spy.

Zora Neale Hurston, for the uninitiated, was a badass African American author, sociologist, anthropologist, Harlem Renaissance queen and explorer who traveled the world SOLO as a woman in the 1920s and beyond.

YEAH, baby!

I love looking around my beautiful living room (home tour coming soon!) and seeing my art and artifacts from Nigeria, Guyana, Bali, Belize, London, South Korea, Jamaica and more.

This is what the laptop lifestyle journey has been to me.

But this is about way more than home decor.

This is about leaping over self-doubt and the challenges life throws your way to love your voice and live your truth.

My Spiritpreneur™ lifestyle — life – really is as if Zora Neale Hurston and Josephine Baker had a baby.

And I claim them both in my spiritual ancestral DNA.

But my choices, my path, my dreams are all unmistakably and unapologetically my own.

Live your own life, choose your own adventure.

Create your life in a way that gives you the freedom to know that self-care, including travel, is not an indulgence.

To quote poet Mary Oliver, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do. With your one wild and precious life?”
