Current mood: ecstatic
hey loves,

i am fresh from the BET awards and have all kinds of things to share with you! however, i am on an insane deadline for my novel– just got another draft back from the copyrighters and i am (turning off the phone &) not gonna leave my computer for the next week. i look forward to giving you the scoop on my first press conference, a glitter mishap, the pre and post awards, free celebrity swag (yay!), e’s sal masakela (total sweetheart!), red carpet and more, but for now, please enjoy my pics that i pilfered from wireimage…

the awards were awesome and my publicist lyntina rocks the house! because of all kinds of (non-lyntina) stuff, we were late and missed our primary interviews, but i was happy to be interviewed by jimmy kimmel, sister2 sister, cnn, BET international and many others & apparently kimmel aired last night!! i didn’t get to see it, but my girl ngozi mba checked it out and got a kick out of it. In the jimmy kimmel piece, i was interviewed with ky-mani marley, my new channel-mate.

i had so much fun this week and learned tons—isn’t that the point of everything? learn something, have fun and try not to bust your boodie on the red carpet of life!
hope to see you next week when i will be reading/performing my writing that is included in the new eve ensler (vagina monologues) anthology. i will be reading along with marisa tomei and 4 others…

xoxo,

p.s. the best advice came from a reporter surprisingly. there was an area where talent each got on stage and held a press conference. mine went SO well, which is great, but way afterwards, a cool woman approached. she hugged me and said she was doing an article for a san diego paper, i think. she said she loved the way i represented women and added, “you know, through all this, it’s ok to be excited. i know everyone is pretending this happens everyday, but this is fabulous, you are fabulous and it is ok to be in awe of that.” it was all easy, breezy after that…
