Current mood: impressed

i honor the divinity in me….

here is why i love the subway and may buy residences in other places in the future but will always love new york city:

so i was just on the train running a last minute errand before heading out to los angeles to host some stuff at the american black film festival. for many reasons i was super grumpy this morning– the biggest reason being my never ending to do lists. i was totally oblivious to the woman next to me, and many other people for that matter, because i was hard at work making a marketing plan and blah, blah, blah…

a few different people approached me about the show and we spoke, kinda throwing my carefully scheduled work-while-riding plan off kilter. the reason taye diggs, joan rivers, kathy bates, michael bloomberg and many other folks i have witnessed taking public transit are able to do so is that you can usually count on new yorkers don’t give a damn attitude to let them stare at you in recognition and speak maybe 60-70 percent of the time.

THEN the woman next to me taps me and says, “excuse me young lady…”

“yes?,” i answered. i gotta tell you that she was strikingly gorgeous – 60 or 70 something (hard to tell with brownfolks) and close cropped silver hair.

“can you please underline this passage for me in my book?,” she asked. turns out she really wanted to come back and think more about the words “i honor the divinity in me” in eat, pray, love — the oprah book club selection that she was reading BUT she had no pen.

i honor the divinity in me.

yes!

that was just the reminder that the goddess- – hello– needed in the moment.

wow– your creator will find a way to holler at you if you just pay attention.

so perhaps, you also need to hear these words, so i pass them on:

i honor the divinity in me.

thrilling– yay!

xoxo,
a.
