The Secret of Releasing: Setting Yourself Free

(Excerpt from The Sacred Bombshell Handbook of Self-Love)

The Sacred Feminine Law of Releasing

The Sacred Bombshell liberates herself by letting go. She lives in an abundant world so she feels no desperation to clutch on to anything. She is unattached to expectations and traveling light. She has the courage to slough off the old in exchange for the power of possibilities. She releases the past, lets go of what doesn’t work, and sheds the excess. She is free.

Historical Bombshell Mentor: Jane Fonda (born 1937)

Septuagenarian Jane Fonda is showing women how to age unapologetically. She writes and speaks out about letting go of what others think of her and releasing what no longer serves her. Born Lady Jayne and raised as Hollywood royalty, she made her own mark. Besides being an acclaimed actress, the activist and author tells Britain’s Hello! Magazine that she is having the sexiest time in her life. She has also become more spiritual, saying on her site, “Religion and feminism are different expressions of the same impulse toward making life more just and whole.” Staying on the leading edge, Fonda created an online community to connect to her tribe.

The Releasing Declaration

Today, I release all things I no longer need. I release what is for what might be. Letting go is part of the cycle of life. I travel lighter, baggage-free. I no longer clutch desperately to what is defunct because I have faith in the abundance of the Universe. I am excited to see how the vacuum left behind is filled when I release old energy, things, people, and resentments.

Harmony is the song of my life played with the instrument of balance and heard on the notes of synchronicity. I reap and sow. I ebb and flow. I receive and release. I fast and I feast. I play and I work. I awake each day and go to bed each night with a clear picture of myself: vibrant, healthy, and well-nourished. And when the time comes I easily let go.

I let go. I shed, detoxify, de-clutter and empty to make room for me. I will crawl until I can walk. I will walk until I can run. I will run until I can leap. I will leap until I can fly, and I will release that which no longer serves me.

As I release I will feed my soul and nourish my spirit. I listen to my aches, pains, and whispers rather than trying to silence them. When I listen carefully, I know what is needed. I feel peaceful and harmonious when I treasure myself. For this I am so grateful.

And so it is.

The Sacred Feminine Power of Releasing

“Sometimes you’ve got to let everything go – purge yourself. Whatever is bringing you down, get rid of it.”
—Tina Turner

Earlier in the book (this is an excerpt) we examined the power of the Secret of Receptivity. The other half of the cycle of receiving is releasing. You can’t have one without the other. Well, actually you can – but that will throw you out of balance. If you are receiving without releasing, you are on overload or hoarding. If you are releasing without receiving, you are starving, dry, and depleted.

The day-to-day grind can begin to feel like a spiritual or even moral malaise. Be thankful for where you are. This is a great opportunity. The more clear we are about what we do not want, the closer we get to what we do want. The catalyst for a Dry Life Crisis could be a devastating breakup, unplanned changes at work, inner circle betrayals, financial challenges, or all of the above. Whatever the trigger, sometimes we wake up and realize that we are not where we wanted to be. At that point it’s time for new thinking.

What might you need to let go of? How about: toxic anger, physical clutter, excess body weight, poisonous relationships, unhealed drama, exes, defunct friendships, limiting beliefs, expectations, grudges, beefs, and family feuds. My “28-Day Love-Body-Spirit Detox Program” is an intensive online coaching program about releasing everything that doesn’t serve us. We know that we need to detoxify our bodies of unhealthy foods, but we also need mental, emotional, and spiritual detoxing.

Your Sacred Bombshell Challenge: I once had the honor of being in a creative workshop with master dancer Bill T. Jones. He told me, “Baby girl, if you don’t have a fight song, get one, because life is hard.” I don’t know if he meant it literally but I took it that way. Music is a part of my therapy. My fight songs range from Pharrell Williams’s “Happy,” Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” and The Black Eyed Peas’s “Let’s Get It Started,” to John Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things,” Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Für Elise,” and “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. Create an uplifting Fight Song Playlist that inspires you to release the old and savor this moment.

xoxo, Abiola
